Skimmer question.

Hi, I just bought a reef octopus bh 1000 skimmer.. but the water keep overflow in the collection cup..

How high should i place the collection cup?

Should the bubble go inside the cup? or no?

Sorry I quite new to marine.

Hi, if ur skimmer still new, it may be like that. Its the break in period for skimmers and its been advised not to turn the venturi or intake too high.... may take days to weeks. Mine took almost a mth...

The above is based on my personal experience with a different skimmer but same prob....

But ur collection cup got water inside?

so do i have to move de collection cup higher? so water wont be able to go in?

I have no idea of how a skimmer works :/

Hmm there shld be an indicator on water level, not really sure how yours look like or work. Mine used to not skim proper and caused it to overflow with water and microbubbles issue. Oh yaa try to turn the power to the lowest for now and google for articles.

Guess There should be the main dial to dial down the water level . Lower it down till the indicator or slightly leSs.. Then another dial for air mix. Tune slowly to raise te bubble up 3/4 the neck of collection cup. The water should not overflow... Can start low for a start and let it break in.

Thanks! Will adjust 3/4 of the neck.. and see what happen after 2 weeks..

I using the 2000 model. Just move the collection cup higher will solve the problem.

If u just dose some bacteria products it will cause the sudden increase in skimmate as well
