Freshwater to Marine Question

I intend to start a Marine tank soon.

May I know if I can bring some of my freshwater media over to marine to speed up the cycling?

Also I dunno if I can use my commercial bacteria in marine too?

2 Feet Tank: (Decom Feb 2015)
-Lightings : Pharos LED light 90W with wireless controller
-Chiller : Arctica 1/10HP with H2Ocean Flow Pump 2000
-Wavemaker : Vortech MP10ES
-Skimmer : Bubble Magus NAC 3.5
-Return Pump : Eheim Compact 3000
-Reactor – TLF150 (Mod) with NP Biopellet
-Reactor – TLF150 with Rowaphos

What media are you talking about? please be more specific. you can re-use filter media like ceramic rings and pellets after thorough rinsing.

Intend to use ceramics but can I transfer the 'live' bacteria over? For speeding up the cycling?

You can inoculate the media with bacteria culture starter products. There many brands to choose from.

Freshwater bacteria and saltwater bacteria are different.

You need to start from scratch again. If you want to reuse your filter media you got to wash it thoroughly.

Most reefers avoid medias like bio balls, ceramic rings, coral chips as they as known to be a breeding ground for nitrates.
