Auto Water Top Up System

I travel overseas very often and in 2 years time, i am doing my NS. I am thinking of diying an auto water top up system for my nano. I looked up on youtube and many people use a float switch. However, reviews have shown that a float switch is unreliable. On the other hand, a better option will be a float valve but a float valve will certainly not fit my 8 gallon nano. Are there any other feasible methods?

Heres my 8 gallon nano:

PLEASE ADVISE:D THANKS.

Cheaper alternative....SGD20

A - to feed water from tap or gravity

B - bracket to hook on your sump

C - if float is lowered, water will be pump into sump

  • 1 month later...

u can also get ATOs like the jbj and tunze ones which are cheaper than a dosing pump. but a dosing pump can also dose additives.

Hi. Thanks for your suggestion:D I have done some reading about ATO. They seem fine for my use, small enough to fit into the tank. However, my concern is whether will it malfunction (inaccurate). Have you had experience using the JBJ ATO before? About how much does it cost?

Reviews for jbj ATO has been good so far(im planning on 1 too). Its has 2 level sensors, so if one fails, there's a backup... Costs at abt $168 in Am...:)

Fresh fishes and inverts! What's next? To the salty side of marine of course!:)
