Led light for sps.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. Would like to hear some advises from you guys.

For maxspect led, is 110w enough to sustain sps? It's stated that 110w led is equivalent to 150w mh. So does that mean 110w can barely make it?

How is the light penetration like?

Always have the mentality that led is not strong enough and corals have to be put very high up the tank.

Also, anybody uses both led and mh for the tank? Any problems?

Thanks for my many questions asked. :)

Maxspect 110 only enough for 1.5-2 feet tank.

Bro yr tank is 3ft plus ,should get a higher range one.

Led + MH ( ? )

Getting good result using led + T5. :heh:

Anyway, I am using 2X250W MH for my tank now. Overall it's doing fine for those sps in the middle. However, as the width of my tank is 2.5feet, I feel that the front and back of the tank is not getting enough light thus half of the sps facing the front is slightly more brown as compared to the other half facing the light.

Thus, I'm thinking of pushing the MH to the back and adding LED in the front to increase the coverage.

Will adding t5 be a better choice?

This is a pic of my tank with the light.

And the scape of my tank.

just a suggestion.. move slightly forward and lift up ur MH abit higher.. use mirror to reflect down to the back of the tank?
