My Percula Clown

Recommended Posts

i just bought a percula clown this early afternoon. until now, it is only hanging around the top back right corner of my 2 feet tank, near my cannister filther outlet pipe. i read that these clowns are quite hardy. is he sick  or is he going to konk out??? has anyone seen such behaviour of their percula clowns?

the only other fish i have is a green chromis and its doing fine. just started up my tank and finished cycling. introducing fish slowly.

nope no anemone. heard they give qutie a bit of problems to filther inlets and moreover my tank is 2 feet. is it advisable to keep anemone? and if so, which types?

has any reefers encounter anemones committing suicide in the tank by trying to squeeze into the inlet / outlets?

yo bro u ask the rite question to the rite guy liao then let me tell u about my exper.

it long started wif a stupid anemone which like to run about in my very beautiful tank wif lots of beautiful and expensive clams but all this became a nightmare when that STUPID anemone goes into my stuction and got stuck there and slowly die......... and pollute my water and when i came back home i wonder " who the hell pour milk into my tank"

and there goes my everything

to my experience, no anemone or other alike corals, ur clowns wont survive long. clowns have many types. percula is not hardy. dont listen to any LFS as they like to lie and bullshit to make business. survey before buying.

and when u have any anemoes, best to have fence around at all tank water outlets

huh how to fence them around use wat u mean use LR ah?

if use LR they will climb over by the way anemone will move till they find a place where they find gd current and food.

u can try to get those anemone stuck at the bottom of the sand or u can try plate anemone

But i experience one u have placed a nice place it wont move for months except u disturb it when changing water. fence means use that kinda plastics sheetswith holes. or eggcrates. by pushing it in the sand will help too.

Not all clowns will eat pellet food immediately. Some never will.

Try some flakes (break them into tiny pieces with your fingers). You may want to try frozen brine shrimp, preferably soaked in garlic liquid for about half hour, for it to at least start eating in captivity. Once it starts to feed, you can slowly vary its diet with a lot of other marine foods.

Clowns are not as hardy as damsels. If you want another one, get a smaller one than the one you have in your tank but I would suggest getting it after your first clown has at least eaten for a few days. Just IMO. Solve one problem at a time.

bought another percula clown today. once i placed the bag in the water for aclimatisation, the lonely one came forward to inspect it. once i released the clown, they were as if taking a tour around my tank.

WHOOoOOoHOOoooo ;)

thank you everyone for your comments. :thanks:

Good that they dun fight.. =) I've one true percula too in my tank.. so lonley.. and thinking of bringing another 2 into my tank making it 3 but always holding back, afraid the 2 will bully him or he'll bully the 2 when introduce coz i believe true percula are semi aggressive.

a percula for 2 is quite unbelievable but if you did it well, you sure got a bargain.my anemone is still fine and is bout 4 mths old now. avoid the purple base ones they move too much and also tube anemones. they pack a vicious sting and might be harmful to your corals

My clown is back to its depressed mode of wobbling around... cause he's mate just died today!!! wah kaoz.. :cry2:

the buddy was around for 4 days only. and stopped eating yesterday. sad case man... its fins was pale and all and stayed stationary in mid tank level. came back from dinner and...:shock: .

will go and get my clown a buddy tomorroww. sobsob...

does anyone have any ideas to his dimise? maybe sick fish from the LFS. didn't choose properly. but thought these guys are quite hardy.
