My Dymax IQ5 Pico

Paid a Visit to Madpetz yesterday

Bought the Par 30 LED bulb and holder

Took advice from the Nice bro there to use chaeto in my Dymax

So got back, removed my stock Black sponge( left a small portion inside for bacteria purpose) left the Carbon and Bio ring filters in and added the chaeto

While doing this, from my Rock, suddenly a 3-4 inch long thread like thing came out floating, still attached to the rock( sorry didnt take the photo)

The tank is stable now, all clear but was just wondering what was that

Chaeto are plants. They need light.

You can't stuff them inside the filter chamber and expect them to survive in the long term.

Yes Bro, Aware of that

What i did, i cut off the Dymax Sticker covering the chamber on the left of the tank, i am directing the stock light through the clear Arcylic( after the sticker is removed). I am directing the light for about 12 hours daily, is that sufficient?

Once i fix my PAR30 for my Tank, my stock light will solely be fixed at the left of the chamber to provide light for the chaeto

let me know if i should do anything else to this

Thanks

Excellent idea. But I do wonder if the stock light has enough PAR at all. Are there any specs on the output?

Rukas,

Thanks for giving me directions. I got an IQ5 setup.

Here's what I did when I came across the nano CO2 diffuser for freshwater planted tank at AquaEmpire. Bleh to planted tanks, I made myself a reactor. Plus, I bought another PH200 pump and shove it into the middle chamber, it comes with the extra connecter reducer I needed, and this on top. This frees up a lot of space for more Biohomme/ Chaeto and is easy to clean once you get the hang of poking it in.

The flow is a bit slow but if I have less media, they move around too much and might grind into dust. There are 3 sizes, this is the biggest.

Cheers.

Nice IQ5 you have there!

I also just got myself a IQ5 planning to start, may I know what water you used to change water? Salt mix or NSW?

Our tank is so small, if NSW sure have left over but dunno can store how long if we change weekly

2 Feet Tank: (Decom Feb 2015)
-Lightings : Pharos LED light 90W with wireless controller
-Chiller : Arctica 1/10HP with H2Ocean Flow Pump 2000

-Wavemaker : Vortech MP10ES
-Skimmer : Bubble Magus NAC 3.5

-Return Pump : Eheim Compact 3000
-Reactor – TLF150 (Mod) with NP Biopellet
-Reactor – TLF150 with Rowaphos

Good Question haha

ok My collection cup is still not collecting as effectively, very little brownish matter, adjusted the flow many times, at times just collects clear water

Possible that the Skimmer is not effective, but i am not sure is it because i am Changing water weekly and providing Controlled feeding( only counted 3 pellets per feed)

Used to use NSW but as you mentioned the volume is too much for our tank, now using Salt mix, i believe Salt mix can be kept sealed(or prepared as required) compared to SW

oh I was thinking of using NSW to startup then use Madpetz salt mix water for future

I read that salt mix can keep for long

after you change to salt mix, did you notice any problem?

Haha bro thats exactly what i did

The only problem is that the Salinity of the water was different, my NSW was low in salinity and the Salt mix is high

So cant do a sudden change and shock the system, must do a gradual increase of salinity
