if your water volume is larger than 100g, performance is similar but more frequent kick in

tested with my 4 footer

same compartment, lights off, kick in time 40 mins, rest 70 mins

different compartment, lights off, kick in time 60 mins, rest 120mins

you will notice more frequent kick in when lights on

HTH

cheers

did you reduce the flow of the return pump and the downflow valve? why never run it max.?

When i run the downflow valve and return pump max.... the last compartment go dry within 1 min..... keke.... i guess the return 1264 is too powerful.... after i reduce a little on the return pump and the downflow valve is max... then it stable down.....

i reduce the downflow valve a little becuase itz making quite a bit of noise..... might turn it back to max again cos the noise not much different leh.......

1) the raised glass chamber where the downflow goes, if the width is 4'..you can try placing a filter sock 4x8" in directly beneath the pipe. it should stay snug within the chamber and also muffled some noise

2) the chiller pump try placing in the skimmer area. so its not competing with the other return pump, then u can try adjust the return valve.

Thanks bro..... really excited about it..... i guess the best part of this hobby is right now....... kekeke..... :)

Setting up is definitely right up the list, shopping for corals and fish... Wooo that's an addiction that needs weekly fix!

Agree with the comments on the chiller. What I did was to reverse the chiller. Ie hot air blows out of the cabinet and fixed a fan inside to blow ambient air in.

1) Thanks bro... noted..... I did thinking of replacing the filter wool with filter socks later..... btw.... the raise glass chamber is about W5" x D6" x H6".... will it be ok?

2) My chiller pump is not even on yet... sigh.... I think if ON within few second dry..... keke.... ok.... will put it in the skimmer compartment and try.... wat abt the return from chiller? same compartment with the skimmer also?

The chiller pump with the skimmer pump chamber. so more flow into last chamber.

Yup. I tried the normal placement and it kinda got too warm for my liking. Btw my cabinet is similar to yours, separate chiller compartment.

The fan sucks out hot air alot slower than the chiller expels. Chiller compartment is usually feels like sauna.

That said, I now leave my chiller cabinet door open nowadays and train my kid to avoid going there. (placing a fake lizard nearby accelerates the "training".)

basket...it must not overflow the sump... or your cfo will come after you. at least few inches allowance . if there is an elbow at the return inside the main tank, i guess it should have a hole around there to break the flow. though i think the water height will be pretty high in the sump.

i have 1/2 hp chiller inside cabinet.though having a fan in the living room helps to dissipate the warm air when its running, the cabinet itself have been equipped with metallic aircon industrial fan. more solid and lasting than my money spend on those fan with plastic casement and blade. and the chiller is only warm to touch when its working.

yeah you better turn off all the pumps and check where the water level is in your sump.. I hope that when they set it up they should have calculated for you and given you some allowance should pumps fail or there is an electric power trip, and everything goes off, that you won't come home or wake up to a flood in your living room. Should have a couple of inches allowance from the top.

Do put the inlet ( your chiller pump) and the oulet of your chiller into seperate compartments.. much more efficient that way.. it's more efficient that way.

Looking good.. keep the updates coming! :)

Cheers, ;)

keke... okok.... i will try out the test trip once all my equipments is running for more acurracy reading....

Yes, my tank maker drill a hole at the end of the return and there is a y-valve to prevent back flow.........
