vaporisation issue

Hi all,

just finish cycling my 2ft tank last week and put in the livestock. i found that the vaporisation of my tank very serious. it vaporise about 1 litre per 2 days. i need to top up 1 litre of distilled water every 2 days. is there anyway to stop it? do i still need to do water change every 2 week? thanks

Evaporation is unavoidable. If you are using a fan to cool the water, it adds to the rate of evaporation. Getting a reliable auto top off system will help to keep the salinity level constant by topping up fresh water whenever the water level in the tank drops.

Topping up evaporated water and water changes are two separate things. You top up fresh water to replace evaporated water. You perform a water change with fresh salt water to keep your nutrients in check as well as replace minerals.

yup, the evaporation rate of my old 2ft tank was 1L/day...but i was using a fan
