SRC Member Thexder Posted August 2, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted August 2, 2011 Anyway, the kit comes with calibration liquid for pH at 6.86. I can't understand why calibrate at 6.86 when the pH of seawater should be 8.0-8.3 range. Ended up I spilled the calibration liquid while calibrating the pH probe. I was using laboratory pH buffer solution to do the calibration afterwards. I have 2 bottles of pH calibration solutions 7.0 and 9.0. So you can do 2 point calibration instead of 1 point. Giving away since I don't need them anymore. PM me if you want them.

PROX
How about the calibration fluid? Do you calibrate ph+salinity both? I don't like refract..too fine the line..people like me can't see properly.
SRC Member kenny1111 Posted November 16, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted November 16, 2011 anyone have the calibration fluid for this mode or other calibration fluid i can use? can i pour my while i doing calibration. By the way, when i using this mode, i find there is a large diff on the reading of salinity with my hydrometer.

I don't like refract..too fine the line..people like me can't see properly. Hi Bro, I find refractometer is easier to read under natural light (at the window) than using our room fluorescent light. Best if there is sunlight directly shinning down on the prizm. Even easier to read.

dnsfpl
imo this gadget is only good for those who want to monitor their ph and/or salinity at least once a day for water change etc, a refractometer is still recommended
CFOh
Hows the unit doing now? Mine still ok... My probes never out of water unless maintenance, and so far only calibration check twice after 5 month using. I am still depend to hydrometer (red sea brand) for water change and this meter for tank water monitoring. I own a refractometer & ph pen too... but very seldom use.... I still feel meter beside the tank is more convenient... Base on the user feedback so far.... 1x complain Salinity inconsistency but PH ok. But do not know what is the condition now? 1x Encounter Meter blackout a while but back to normal after that. I suspected may due to battery intermittent contact issue or intrinsic prob.. Hopes above helps... Quote LFS Map in singapore __________________ ><((((º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><((((º> ·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·.. >((((º> Cheers and Happy Reefing.... SRC Supporter Harlequinmania Posted November 16, 2011 SRC Supporter Share Posted November 16, 2011 I have also been using this for some time now, and although the reading may not be as accurate as compare to test kit, but i am mainly using it as an indicator for any significant increase in salinity or PH especially for those doing commercial addictive like me. PROX
CFO - I am in Malaysia..if you can send to Malaysia and price is reasonable, I will consider. I like the idea of constant monitoring to the tank system.
