SRC Member ah^siao Posted January 6, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 6, 2004 can use chengtai wood to diy yourself lol... up to yourself to do.. just remember to get some fans for ventilation... or else it'll get pretty hot inside.. evaporation rate higher and faster lol... toping up of water also faster..inside the diy light hood can fit into some t5 or PLs of FLs for your blue lighing... buy a good reflector so that all the light source will be utilised... alanyeo
Hey guys, just a cautionary note. If you use wood to build the casing, do consider the heat generated by ballast and lamp. You may endup with a warped surface or burnt interior, possibly catches fire if ballast is mounted directly on wood. Just my 1c.

SRC Member hoppinghippos Posted January 8, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 8, 2004 just wondering if you use wood as a "platform" to place the casing on (ballast is external and nowhere near the wood), is it safe? how hot does the casing get? enuff to burn the wood?
