the white light looks rather white.. no tint of yellowish so might be above 6000k

too bad the owner unable to give me the actual color temperature.

any idea can these off the shelf led light use for marine?

Not suitable as normally home light doesn't fullfill the marine reef lighting requirement

Here are the five most important criteria in determining the light you need for use in marine:

• Lumens per watt

• Lumen focus (as well a restrike, although less of an issue as per my research and tests than focus)

• PAR (this is important to understand)

• PUR/Useful Light Energy (this is related to PAR, however many lamps can have reasonably PAR output but fail in comparison when PUR is considered)

• Watts (or watts per gallon, however this term is way over used/simplistic)

I am using the 3w one seems very yellow, to the naked eye it looks white... But in water it is super ugly... Need blue to balance out...

But it is very good to pump out the color of zoas, Those that require High Lighting... Not sure about SPS... My light is only a few inch above the light..

I'm using three 4' tubes rated 18w each supplemented by 1m of blue leds hanging about 10 " above my 44x24x20 tanks. All purchased from SLT and ve been on for nearly a yr. So far, my mushrooms and fishes r doing fine. BTW I'm not fussy n expect the inverts to expand 3 or 4 times like under metal halide.

Overall I'm pleased with the brightness n it's great savings on the bill!

Good day,

Finbir.

4' tube is 6500k and above?

is definitely great saving to get from SLT just that they rarely have those high K tubes

anyway household 40W circular tube also has 6500k or 6700k from philips or osram B)
