Hi Bros/Sis..... initially intend to get an Eheim 1264 for my return pump..... but recently heard abt this Red Dragon pump from my tank maker....

Anyone can advice or share their experience about this Red Dragon pump to be use as return pump and what is the different? Tank size 422. What is the model to use to replace my current Eheim 1264 if i decided to get Red Dragon instead of Eheim?

Thanks a lot.....

Reliability is good for both. Red dragon drawback is price and for ehiem is power consumption. Think if u are using ehiem 1264, then u are comparing red dragon 5m3.

Tank : 4 X 2 X 2 with low iron front panel and external overflow

Skimmer : BK SM200 with waste collector

Return Pumps : Red Dragon 6m3 and Ehiem 1262

FR : 2 X Deltec 509 & powered by AB2000

Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000

Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber

Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500

Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil

Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w

Controller : GHL Profilux

Lighting : ATI Powermodule 10 or 8 tubes

Water Top-up : Water Top-Up tank powered by Tunze Osmolator

External Monitor : American Pinpoint pH and Temp. Monitor for main tank and GHL Profilux Controller to measure temp, pH, Redox

Ozonizer : Sander C50

UV : Corallife 6x

Bro, one is about twice the price of the other. Specs shows 40W difference in power consumption. That should be about $7 extra on your electrical bill. So if you go for 5m3, you'll pull even after continuous 58 months of usage.

There are also other factors as high watt likely generate more heat. However, it is also right to say the cost saving might not be achieved if u don't stay in this hobby long enough and durability of the equipment. It's like LED and chiller. Debatable and nvr ending. Ultimately, voice down to ur liking and budget.

based on my experience with ocean runner, eheim and aquabee

if compare lph per watt ratio, eheim is the worst, followed by aquabee

but in terms of heat release, aquabee is the worst, followed by ocean runner

pocket not deep enough for RD pump lol
