I read in a book that say we can establish a algae tank by placing saltwater in a tank with some rocks near the windows.

Once rocks covered with algae, can place the orckmin the main tank n let the fishes to eat.

Then cycle.

Question, this saltwater can just use normal tap water and add sea salt?

I would like to do something similar as my Tangs love algae...

it might work.... but why take the risk of introducing pesky algae to your tank.... the fishes will eat the algae but its spores will still be in the water.... take the other reefer's advice and get the nori sheet... convenient and doesnt provide a risk of introducing the algae
