SRC Member Tanzy Posted January 5, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 5, 2004 The leftover or precipitate can either be insoluble calcium carbonate or undissolved calcium hydroxide or mixture, but you don't know how much, so it's often discarded when mixing a new batch just for convenience. SRC Member AlfaRomeo Posted January 5, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 5, 2004 Tanzy, how will this apply to kalk reactors? Can i assume that since the solution is not exposed to air, the insoluble calcium carbonate will not happen and just keep on topping up the powder into reactor when depleted? Thanks
SRC Member Tanzy Posted January 5, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 5, 2004 Ja. Kalk reactors get less exposure to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that causes the formation of insoluble calcium carbonate. Quote Warning: Heavy handed moderator in operation.
