the so-called "mess" created by previous policies are not easy to change or amend....how is the new cabinet going to bring down prices of HDB w/o antagonising Singaporeans who are hoping that their prices of their flats remains high so that they can sell it off for retirement savings or pay off their loans vs another group of Singaporeans who are starting their families and need a flat.

and if the ministers pay is going to be cut, how much is enough to say that this is fair w/o losing the talents. if a minister who is currently paid millions and suddenly gets a pay cut of 60-70%, will he/ she stays?

Well, the 'mess' created by the PAPs will have to deal with it, some how.

As for pay cut, haha Ah Siang, you must be kidding to expect a 60-70% cut. I will not expect the cut to be more than 30%.

Treat others the way you wanna be treated...

rising hdb price is good for every sporean provided it rises in proportion to our salary

this will then improve the standard of living

we will have higher spending power, esp when we are oversea

currently minister pay is high but still acceptable

they should peg their salary, bonus, allowance to average sporean instead of gdp growth

this will then drive them to improve our salary etc etc

lastly, they should implement foreign talent tax

since they are foreign talent, its natural to pay more for their service

eg

foreigner: 20%

pr less than a year: 15%

1 to 3 years: 10%

3 to 5 years: 5%

more than 5 years: 0%

just my 2 cents

my friend is a foreign talent in china and he is tax about 20% of his monthly salary every month.

if the cost of employing a foreign talent is much higher than locals, employers will naturally consider hiring singaporeans before they consider someone outside to fill up the position.

but nowadays, a lot of foreign talents are willing to work based on local pay package...the western economies are not doing well...they have no choice but to come to asia to compete with us.
