Is Kalk neccessary?

I dose my 1ft nano tank with Reef complete & trace twice a wk! Find out fr the forum tat a lot pple is dosing their tank with kalk in order 2 maintain the pH & calcium level (correct me if I'm wrong). I will like to kw whether is it necessary to dose a 1 ft nano tank with kalk?

I think it all depend on the inhabitants you have in your tank...

Kalk is very high PH solution so it is a bit risky to be used in 1 ft tank unless you drip it very very sloooooooow

i also drip very slow for my nano tank

1 drop by one drop by using just a DIY small contanier

nomrally do it in the night time ~~~

You may want to check you kdh and calcium level before dosing. My initiate error was dosing kalk without checking and my tank calcium level shoot to more than 500mg/l.

Btw, I have a 3.5ft tank and I dose them drop by drop at a speed of ~1 drop per sec during nite. If you do not have many corals in you nano, it may not be necessary to dose, imo.

it is because there is where the ph is low~~~

for how long depend also..maybe u can try to test every hr or so after driping until it maintain your desire reading

For a 1ft tank....wouldn't it be easier just to change water?

Or you are planning not to change water at all........

Thks for the advise! I saw fr the instruction of preparing the kalk stating tat those leftover which is the bottom of the kalk wif tap water mixes cannot be use! Any reason 4 tat?

I do a bi-weekly water chg! Can I drag 2 once a month if the water parameter is stable?

Sorry 2 say tat I'm not very sure abt the name of my coral. I oni kw I got a orange fan sponge, green button, jewel (I think so) and a hard coral which got a lot of those small tubes shooting out!

Sounds like quite alot of corals for a 1ft tank. I think u should check your parameters before dosing, imo.

"small tubes shooting out" = hammer/frogspawn/torch coral
