SRC Member lcf425 Posted April 19, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted April 19, 2011 i have a 3.5 by 2.5 by 2.5ft tank with 8tube T5 and i using a haliea 500a chiller however i notice their kick in time is 3 to 4hr and then stop for 2hrs then kick in again is this normal? thanks for any advise^^
SRC Member desideria Posted April 20, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted April 20, 2011 i have no idea the horsepower of a haliea and what's the temp range but for an Arctica 1/4 HP and even with LED lighting, for an almost 700L system, it took 45 mins to an hour to cool down 0.6 degrees. VERY hot weather will be about 1 hour 10 mins. Then stop for about 45mins then it will kick in again. after I change to a 1HP Condenser takes 25-30 mins to chill down 1.2 degrees and it stays cool for about 1.5-2 hours depending on ambient temp before kicking in again. Tian85
if chill for 1 deg and takes more then 1.5hrs is a bit too much. i using 1/6 hailea for 3ft and it takes about 45 to 50 mins to chill it down 1 deg.

SRC Member tropic Posted April 20, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted April 20, 2011 Lc425 , are you using an external controller? Mine is almost the same as yours . 5x2.5x2.5. Using 500a. I think it may depend on your flowrate or also of any additional pump running inside the tank .
SRC Member lcf425 Posted April 21, 2011 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 21, 2011 Only got 1 pump which is 1264 ehiem goes to chiller and back to main tank . And yes I am using an external temo
dnsfpl
you need a more powerful chiller if your kick in time is more than your resting time
SRC Member lcf425 Posted April 21, 2011 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 21, 2011 mine is suspose to be overkill liao =.= 1/2hp for a 3.5ft tank only wor
dnsfpl
CL-650 vs HC-300A vs DBE-200, all 1/4 based on my personal experience(without any mod) DBE-200 performs 2-3 times better than CL-650 HC-300A based on my friend, is pretty good too
SRC Member Underwater Posted April 22, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted April 22, 2011 Mine is 4 2 2. Also using hailea 500. Takes about 2 hrs to cool down 1.5 degrees (which i thought is a bit too long) and rest for 4-5 hours before kicking in again. I'm using an external temp controller so temp measure in the main tank shd be quite accurate. Using a dedicated 3000 litre/hr pump.
SRC Member tropic Posted April 22, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted April 22, 2011 Bro, I think you switch your pump and make it dedicated max flowrate 3000l/h for the chiller only. Eheim 1264 may be too fast for the chiller. The max for our chiller is 1000-3000l/h

Jameshong
I'm using Arctica 1/5hp run by 3000l/h pump for my 3x2x2ft tank. The kick in-out is 60~80mins (chill down), out-in time is, 70~100 mins on day time but nite time will be 60~80mins for Kick in-out but kick out-in time is 90~120mins. Am I chiller performance efficiency ? Quote Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do. - Goethe
