How to know a sea fan that is a NPS?

Normally brown ones are photosynthetic...

Some carribean species like Frilly seafan and Gorgonian ventalina are photosynthetic but not available locally..

Yes, but there are some brown ones if I am not wrong, those should be photosynthetic..

looking for orange, purple or red ones. the easy ones.

Those are normally Non-Photosynthetic. Will require feeding, I am posting up a thread on the Simple and Cheap DIY feeder..

If they are small ones, i choop all.. size max height/ width 4 inches is ok with me..

Smaller the better cos i have no space. My nano 2 feet all fully packed with corals liao..

Oh forgetting how do they feed during day all nite? they open all day long? or how to make them open.. so that they can feed?

As i saw them in LFS, some not opening. Wondering how to make them open? are they like sun corals? some smell will trigger them to open?

First few days, they will only open when they sense food... And slowly when they are more stable, they will open whole day and night but will still close sometimes which is normal..
