How about your salinity, KH & PH? I suspected either your KH depleted or Salinity out of control? Not recommend in long run....Cheers..

im planning to dose CaCl & MgCl2, once a week, without a test kit

anyone tried mixing CaCl & MgCl2 and dissolve with treated tap water together?

will it cause any chemical reaction?

Bro I would be more worried about my KH first before CA and MG .

If your CA is this high, most likely your KH will be too low. You may want to read the articles in this link

my kh is stable, between 8 & 9, but dropping fast

previously i dose once a week, 2 spoonful

now i have to dose 2-3 times

my ca & mg kinda low now

intend to raise it, with the easiest possible safe method

i hope my kh will stabilize by increasing ca & mg

Hmmm I think u should try to stablize your Mg, once it is stablize, then u go adjust your KH until it is stable before u adjust the Ca. If the Mg is not stable, Kh and Ca will not be stable. Anyway after your parameter is stable, Mg should not drop by a lot so normaly people only concentrate on Kh and Ca. Hope it is helpful. =)

Hmmm I am using salifert, it should be ok. Any problem u encounter? The only thing i encounter is the colour change, u must test in well-lighted area if not difficult to see the colour change. lol old liao, eye sight failing. =p

initially i thought dosing NaHCO3 + iwarna topup should be sufficient

maintaining a healthy reef is never easy

maybe is time to purchase or DIY a dosing pump lol

Hmm, yesterday, you mentioned your Ca and Mg were high. Today it is too low ? Some thing is not right. You may want to measure all your parameters with another brand of test kit. If your Mg is not stable, you must tackle Mg first. Followed by KH. If you have clams and sps, your KH and Ca may get depleted very fast. Daily dosing is a must. Mg is usually not a problem as the consumption rate is not that high.

It's time to invest in dosing pump.

btw, if you are (really) lazy, fix Mg at a relatively high level like 1500 (if you are worried, then 1400), then monitor Kh and salinity.

Kh is much more volatile than Ca.

They r Kalkwasser/lime base/calcium hydroxide solution.. All 3 r same meaning....

Below r some significant benefits from kalk base solution...

=> serve like adding calcium

=> Helps on growth purple coralline algae.

=> Helps Increase pH

Hmmm i think for a start test kit is a must, then later once the system is stable then u no need to test it so often, can agar agar. =)

i deduce the regime based on these result
