Ok folks... I know this is a silly qn....

I am adjusting the location of my clam and then it dawn onto me that there is a small "mouth" hole at one end of the clam....

If I am placing my clam slanting... is there a right side up? Meaning small "mouth" hole on top or bottom?

place them upright facing the light. No need to tilt them or anything.

The 'mouth' is actually the siphon. They have 2 'mouths' one for water intake...the other is for ejecting the water. The one ejecting water looks like a thin tubing.

Always something more important than fish.

Generally, not necessary to worry but if you want to fuss about it, Daniel Knop recommends to place the clam with the byssal openning at the lowest position of the clam to reduce stress on the byssal gland. In other words, the hole at the bottom should be lower.

just to add on, I think what Tanzy suggested is more important coz when clam grows, the byssal gland will tend to grow upwards. So by placing it as Tanzy has suggested(the byssal gland at the lowest), it will facilitate the growth upwards rather than putting it the other way round and causing the byssal to get detached and stressed.
