Haha. U joining in too har? The poor MUST first look at themselve Y they don't study hard when they r young. They reap Wat they sow.

Teach their children with their experience as a mature adult. Make do with Wat u hv. Be it self study or skill to improve.

Each family will look after theirs. U can't expect other to look after yours, right? U expect the rich to support Ur family?

Gov has done their part by creating jobs n spur n likewise programme. So, do Ur part.

I end here Liao.

I agree that everybody should help themselves out and not depend on handouts.

I, and most reasonable Singaporeans certainly do not want a society whereby the jobless are picky or the poor don't bother to work and become reliant on handouts or go around with the notion that the government will and is obligated to feed them using tax payer's money.

What all of us feel is that the Ex government ( since parliament is dissolved and results out tonight) here has totally alienated themselves from the ground up and when people raise issues the general impression to everyone is that it is always brushed off or we feel "why bother, they don't listen anyway"....which reflects their holier than thou attitude.

The environment is such that even when people spend hard earned money to improve their education level or work hard, the costs of living rise and with far more competition from foreigners who are willing to accept less pay ( employment passes and work permits seem to be of no issue).... the poor get squeezed, they can't get out of their situation... the FTs don't have a mortgage hanging over their heads and most of them share a flat or room rent with a few fellow FTs as well so their costs are lower... and that's just the tip of the iceberg of a very sensitive issue. We are not an anti immigration country and most singaporeans are reasonable enough to acknowledge that FT is GOOD but how MANY must there be And why so easy to get in? PR/Citizenship is another thorny issue. Seems so easy mainly because there are no clear guidelines as to how someone can earn their stripes in Singapore. Perhaps in this sense the singapore government should look to Australia and their immigration PR/Citizenship criteria to get some idea how to move forward.

Money talks.. yes that we all know.. but there's a limit as to how far a government can run a Country like a corporation and when it should show more compassion and heart to it's policies.

My personal opinion is that the Corporation GDP KPI way of running a country has gone too far.

There is an immense sense of unfairness on the ground.

The poor get poorer ( even when they put in the effort to work hard and try to get out of the endless cycle, they are stuck with little help much less with a the minister in charge who asks whether the 3 meals a day be at a hawker center, cafe or restaurant ) and the rich get richer.

We do our part but when you're treated or FEEL as though we are 2nd class citizens in one's own country then something is surely very wrong.

Cheers, ;)

So wat do u suggest? Rising cost, whether you like it or not. Whatever best excuse you have, in fact is the best in the world. Will that bring cost down or slow it down? Lets get back to basic, other country have all the resources they want. What do we have, children n wives. Are singaporean men prepare to use them to feed our hungry stomach?

Rich ppl does business with the ultimate to earn $. We invest to earn profit. So, do you expect gov to tax them high?? they are not stupid, you know. they will do their maths and move the $ somewhere else. Singapore needs $ to maintain lots n lots of things including food!! Investment is VERY limited in the world. Our salary cost compare to the world, is expensive. Pay 1 engineer here, employer can get 17 engineers of the same calibe in Mexico..So how?? Cost not justify, companies n MNC is moving out of Singapore.. Low value jobs has moved out.. only high value ones n services available. Citizen if not up to the standard with skill n knowleadge...Companies is going to go... Companies is going to CUT LOST!! How?? Any good suggestion from u? complain is easy. our children do that very well, don't they??

When i'm in other country to do my studies, i tend to speak to a chinese more than their locals. Singapore invite investment. IF we don't let their ppl in, do u think they will come??? What makes you so sure they will trust their $ to us?? NO INVESTMENT = NO JOBS = NO $.

The best thing is the poor have to and must help themselve. Gov has already come out with training programmes, create jobs. Even pay them plus course fee to train them up. If they refuse or lazy to learn. Then how?? In GE, is very obivous that opposition will sure use cost as a tool to their advantage, right? and after they make use of it and maybe win the GE. Are you very sure they can bring cost down???? you very sure??? Please la..... think..

Region around us is refusing or not willing to sell sand to Singapore. We have to buy from far away land. Cost go up or down?? we need sand to build HDB etc etc.. Give you another fact, I'm the seller of sand, country A pays me US$10 per ton. Country B pays me US$15 per ton. Who do u think i will sell to?? Cost go up or down??

Assume all other factor is constant, Business man pays S$10 per hour to a worker, but in Msia, he pays RM10(today's exchange rate) per hour to a worker. So which will be a pulling factor for him to invest in, Singapore or Malaysia?? China is opening up, and is sucking lots of investment from planet earth. No investment here = no jobs = no $.. What do you suggest?

When a salesman wants to sell his product, don't he say all the nice things plus value for $ plus watever he can think of?? When GE comes, who will not point finger at the ruling party when they compete. In fact, all of them say this and that and they "buy" your heart with promises... ya, sure they can fulfill it. Spend $ only ma.. when $ finished than what. By then, they already richer then they were???

Opposition as i heard their speeches, i only hear complains, promise you the sky.. NONE gives me a win-win solution.

If anyone or party in Singapore can do better than PAP.. Please rule. I will be the new opposite party to complain and promise you all the sky..

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your earlier comment on my first post. I have choose to only further reply you close to the end of the rally for a specific reason.

Just look at what has happen to the dramatic reversal on the attitude of the PAP in the heat up of the rally. The PAP elites finally succumb to public outcry and pressure.

PM apologise for their past mistake. MBT now wants to adjust income ceilings. Vivian admitted to 'miscalculating' the YOG (short of saying SORRY and take the ultimate steps to resign).

So if you would please tell me, would the above has happen if not for the brave people who dares to stand up and speak up for fellow Singaporeans ???

Are we expecting a perfect Government ? No.

Are we saying that PAP has done a terrible job ? Certainly Not.

But absolute power is certainly not the way for Singapore if we are to survive in the increasing volatile world. What we are seeing here is a government that is obsess in maintaining an absolute power with no rooms for opposition and alternative voice to partake in the decision process.

At the end day, look at what has happen over the last five years.

Could some of the mistake be avoided ? Yes.

The only way for the current PAP to continue rein in winning people's heart is to admit that they have to live with the reality of credible opposition taking part in national policies decision process.

I am one who truly subscribes to Mr Chen Show Mao's philosophy that - only with competition, that you will get improvement.

So my fellow Singaporeans, I urge everyone of you to think seriously about the future of Singapore and vote wisely and not repeat the same mistake again.

Cedric, you are a nice bro. I'm only directing at issues when i post here.. Please, is not personnal. All of us are concern. I"m very happy we all share. Having said that, What we do, there is a price to pay, agree? Our fathers left us wealth etc etc.. we MUST pass it down to the next generation. If not, this generation is a disgrace to the younger ones.

As far as i remember, none, yes, not 1. Leaders of a country, say sorry to a nation. is 5 million ppl plus the world. Have you? He humbles himself, which he don't have to.. that i already salute. How many Singapore men, has done wrong to their wife, just 1 person and say sorry. Most of the time, men hides their secret.. don't they?? He has promise to make it better... and i'm very sure he will.

Is unfortunate that singaporean have to make a big hoo haaa to catch the government attention.. but i wonder how many actually went to the "Meet the people" session?? Of all that goes there, how many actually make constructive suggestion compare to ppl who complains and demand that their needs and wants are met or else!! Sounds familiar to the opposition rally? and all the plaible people will just "join in the fun"....

Is easier to learn from other ppl experience then we experience it ourselves... Now, lets look at all the country on planet earth.. are not the countries rule by at least 2 parties are in DEBT now?? look at America, BEST economy. Japan 3rd. Do you know the amount of debt?? Mind you, both are 2 parties rule. They have resources, they can live with it. We only have children and wives. Look at the 1 party country, China.. Do you know how well they are doing?? We DO NOT have a second chance, dear Singaporeans. You sure Chen Show Mao is right? or just a point to "sell" himself in a rally. The rich, intelligent n investor will leave once they smell smoke..

What has happen the last 5 years, is totally PAP fault!!! right to say that???? Hello, y blame PAP only?? Is not Mr Low and Chiam in the parliment??? They highlighted PAP this and that.. then WHAT are they doing as a voice for the last 5 years?? To me, they has FAILED totally as a voice for Singaporeans. But the gulliable Singaporeans accept their selling point in this GE. Gosh, wonder are they trained in charismatic movement or they must have scored A+++ in their marketing..
