i am upgrading my current 1200L wavemaker to either a tunze 6055 + 7091 controller or Vortech mp10w es or mp40w es for my 2 x 1 x1 tank setup. mainly LPS ,some SPS,invertebrates and LS. can anyone advise which one should i get ? is the MP40 a over kill ? thanks

i have a mp10 and i find it to be one of my loudest equipment since it is outside and not muffled in the sump like pumps. if you can afford then no harm getting an mp40. i would prefer an mp40 at 10% rather then an mp10 at 100%. a tunze 6055 would be the most silent but would also take up space which isn't ideal for a small tank.

my 2 cents, I would recommend the Vortech MP10w ES, there is some slight hamming sound if you run mode with short-pulses. if your tank is not in your bed room, then it is ok. during the normal acivity in the lviiing room, we dont hear any sound from the wave maker at all. Only after all lgihts off and if you sit nearby then you can hear it.

anyhow, I still thumb up for the vortech.

Current Tank(s) :

2 x 1 x 1 mixed reef tank

What in my mind now (future tanks)

4 x 2.5 x 1.5 low profile coral tank

3 x 2.5 x 1.5 low profile reef tank

Decommissioned Tanks :

2 ft seahorse tank back in the 1990s'

2.5 ft cube mixed reef tank in 2007 to 2008

JBJ 28g Tank . Maxspect G1 110W + 12W DIY LED . Tunze 9002 Skimmer . Vortech MP10w ES . SPS only Tank . Picasso Clown Fish (2009 to 2011)

2 x 1 x 1 puffer-fishes, box-fishes & Frog-fish tank (2015)
