Help, my fish went missing!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I need your expert advise on this.

Mine is a 4x2.5x2 ft tank with live rock and live sand. I have the following with me now:

1 x Jeweled Rockskipper

1 x Yellow Tang

1 x Green spotted Mandarin FIsh

1 x Yellow Sleepyhead Goby

1 x Maroon Clown

2 x Blood Shrimp

1 x Peppermint Shrimp

1 x Marble/ Sauron Shrimp

4 x Turbo Snails

1 x Halloween Hermit Crab

Recently, I have added 1 x Blue Damsel and 1 x Fire Dartfish separately. During feeding time, I did notice that both of them eat the frozen mysis shrimp. However, they each went missing separately after acquiring them for about 3 days. Until now (5 days for Fire Dartfish and 3 days for Blue Damsel), I have not seen them in my tank, anywhere, not even their 'corpse'. I tried to see whether have they jump out from my tank (open tank) but could not find them too.

Could any1 advise me what's wrong?? Do I have a monster living in my live rock? I've tried very hard to observe my tank activities but couldn't find anything unusual other than there are still a few crabs living in my live rock. Could it be Mantis Shrimp? If possible, what's the best way to observe and catch them??

Thanks.

Dear all,

Thank you very much for your help ....

I've tried searching for spaces under, above inside the live rock but just couldn't find anything. Also, I bought all of my fishes from the same source @ P**** R** Farm, my other fish fo not have such problems.

As for the Mantis Shrimp, I'll try to observe again.

Thank you so much once again.

If your other fishes are all alright and not dying then the problem cannot be because of mantis shrimp...

If your water conditions are ok then don't worry lah... It happens... Fishes die from time to time maybe due to cyanide shock or other reasons that cannot be helped... Chill, man....

Thanks, blacknail.

My other fishes are lokking good. Maron Clown is my first fish and it has been with me for almost 2 months now.

Something interesting though. I have added a Yellow Tang about two weeks ago and about 3 days ago, I have added a Purple Tang

I'm actually quite worry that my Yellow Tang may be aggressive against the Purple. But both of them seems to like good friend now .... I often seen them staying close to each other. Isn't it weird?
