skimmer and pump for tank start-up

I'm just starting out with marine fish.

I have a 3ft by 1.5 by 1.5 tank without sump and it's placed on a 1.5 height cabinet.

I intend to place weipro 2012 in the cabinet. I need to check with you guys; would a weipro pump 3000 for the skimmer be an overkill or not?

Thanks

I intend to place the skimmer in the cabinet. Will need to make ventalation holes in cabinet. Canister will also be placed in the same cabinet. Working the out piping now.

water flow is slow if skimmer is in the cabinet. dun think the pump will have enough power to bring skimmed water back to the tank. suggest you should hang it on your main tank for max. result.

Okay and thankls for the advice.

Just had a look at the cabinet, I guess I could consider a very small sump 20" by 16" by 13" - about 18 gallons to 50 gallons in the tank. Would it be worth the effort or should I just stick to the canister Eheim 2217?

Appreciate all the help I can get to get started.

Thanks in advance.
