Updates...

Found a couple of small aiptasia's size been reduced by 80%.

Could they have been eaten by my butterflies?

Me, not sure at all, as I have not seen them nipping on the aip.

Anyway, bought a big peppermint shrimp yesterday;

and my mystery wrasse seems to be interested ... :blink:

Hope can find it later when I am back home.

Yeah, it is the Klein's butterfly;

Saw him nip at the aiptasia just now!!

Good work ... hope he keep on nipping them.

By the way, my PS is considered gone; cannot find him at all.

Hi, seemed like the population of aiptasia is kept in check by the 2 butterflies!

I found that most of the aiptasias have retracted and are afraid to expand fully.

These fish are really greedy, never seems to stop looking for food and eating;

no matter how many times I feed them.

Note those big Aips are still around.

Cheers!

  • 2 weeks later...

hi all, are klein butterflies generally reef safe? Thinking of adding one to my tank. I have mostly LPS in my tank.

Apista problem as well, my copperband seems like not picking on them. (Maybe related to harassment from my purple tang). Joe's juice should be out cos the silly apista somehow are all growing on my clam's shell.

:(

too many wrasses/basslets to have PS also.

Hi Kuay5, Klien butterfly has indeed greatly reduced the aiptasia in my tank;

Cannot find small aiptasia anymore; and those big and medium ones are either getting smaller or retracted most of the time.

Also, it eats anything I feed him.

But it does nip my only SPS while it does not touch my zoas; or gsp coral.

I do not have LPS at the moment; so not sure it will touch LPS or not.
