Is this clam healthy (repost)

My blue c***** clam pass away after 5 months in my tank.

Please advise is this one health

what makes you think this clam is not healthy ??

Perhaps you have to tell us whether you are providing enough light and calcium for keeping clams first.

Failure to do so is a guarantee that clams will die.

Looks like a squamosa or gigas, their colouration tends to be brownish if you are worried about the colour. Was there a colour change?

How long have this calm been in your tank?

Any sign of growth ie do you see new shell growth. New growth are white in colour. If it growing then everything is fine.

Expansion of the mantle does not indicate growth. Too much expansion point to lighting intensity is not enough. If you have it for several months and no growth then the clam could be starving or your calcium and alkilinity level may not be correct.

The clam seem always the same. I only use FL light. 2 20000K, 1 10000K, 1 6500k and 1 blue.

I will check any white new shell grow.

can i just ask what is the wattage to the lights ? that could be the source to the problem ? as i know clams needs pretty strong lightings ??

FL lights are not enough for clams.

You need at least compact fluoroscents, or preferably, MH lights.

everyday looking at the clam so not able to detect any growth. lights are around 200Watts. I put all lights to one side of tank so can focus on the clam.

sometimes the depth of the tank has a part to play in it .... as FL is not as "strong" as MH .... or even PL .... the clams might not be getting enough of lights ....
