"Pipefish will be harmed by anemones and corals with stinging tentacles or corals that are large enough to consume them, such as brain corals. Pipefish can also be harmed by invertebrates such as crabs and large shrimp." -http://www.liveaquaria.com under topic "Janss' Pipefish (Doryrhamphus janssi)"

They only consume mysis from my experience. Currently have 2 in my 4ft tank for more than 2 years. The ones I have do not tolerate other pipefish species and I am happy to have just this particular nano species. They do swim to avoid stinging corals like anemone and usually are found amongst the rocks and overhang, minding it's own business.
