Mature tank so skim nothing because water too clean?

I bet a lot of reefer will sometime find that how come last time my skimmer skim so much now dun skim much? Is it because my tank have mature and it has found it own balance so there is nothing to skim?

This is what I thought also until recently I found that how come no matter how I tune my skimmer air tube the water volume don't go up. My feeder pump is choke with very small tube worm so the flow rate into my skimmer is greatly reduce. I clear the choking stuffing and the feeder pump start working normally and I get my thick skim back.

For people whose skimmer dun skim much maybe can check whether the feeder pump is choke. All the best. Happy reefing.

Lol. Saw yr header, already planned to tease u by saying either yr tank so matured or skimmer too old and true enough, skimmer is too old. Lol.

resolved by cleaning the air intake air tube

for me is...the hose connecting the feeder pump came off...

but the strange thing abt my skimmer is....whenever i do WC..it will stop skimming for 30mins - 1hr b4 it starts to skim again...

whole skimmer, possibly 6-12mths, mainly the pump and needle wheel as it might get stuck.

Yup it is good to take out the skimmer pump to clean up every 6 mth, for collection cup is up to individual, some wash every 3-4days.

previously dry skim, need to clean twice a week

now wet skimming, i clean once a week

once every 2 months, must have waste collector liao

just being lazy to clean a small mess. Since it has a output, just have a tube to a bottle will do.
