SRC Member tunicate Posted February 17, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted February 17, 2011 I came upon this item selling in hardware store. It comes with 3W LED x3 per unit. Anyone who has tried this can give us review? For E27 socket: For MR16 socket(I also found this at a neighbourhood lighting shop selling for S$20): Note: It also has one for E14 socket. Anyone who has tried this can give us review? The way i read the 3W is total power consumption 3W which means is 1W per LED.. Not sure if I am correct.. reckless
correct me if i'm wrong but these led spotlights will not give a wide spread of lights but instead, concentrated ones. May need a few unless nano tanks? Quote The Best Way Is To Keep It Simple.
SRC Member tunicate Posted June 10, 2011 Author SRC Member Share Posted June 10, 2011 You're right. They're spot lights. The spread depends on the lens. Comparatively, even aquarium LED fixtures have a number of LEDs spread out over the panel for even coverage. These off the shelf LED bulbs are more white than blue, & are probably more suitable for growing chaeto in the sump. For those whose interested in DIY, you'd want to test out the bulb 1st for its intensity & coverage at the shop before buying. Plus you need to supplement it with T5 blue.
