Is aquabee 3000 enough as return pump for 2' cube tank?

Hi, bro nuj,

it's depend on yout return flow height and desire flow rate, pls find below the head loss of aquabee 3000. (in general shld be fine), but I normally recommend go for pressure rated pump. As u can see the up2000/l head loss is insignificant as compare to up2000 & up3000. I also consider the degradation in long run...

thanks for prompt reply. So you are recommending up2000/l over up3000? I just tried eheim 1260 and got a very nice flow (a bit strong but ok), however the water temp rised by 1-1.5C. I dont intend to use chiller so I need to look for another lower wattage pump that will give a decent flow. Aside from aquabee, do you have other punp to recommend?

i have used it for 4 feet (not that ok) but for 2 feet and the pump is new. i think thats strong enough :)

It's nice to hear that it would work. As long as there is decent flow, I am ok as I will install wavemaker to add to the water movement in the main.

if you find the 1260 a bit too strong then an ab3000 may be too strong for you. channeling a portion of the output into other equipments is a good way of reducing flow into the main tank and also saving the need for additional pumps. for me i run my ab3000 into my fr and chiller.

regarding your heat issue perhaps you could run your pumps out of water? this minimize (not eliminate) the heat gained by the water from the pumps.
