I am planning my first new tank.

I heard of lot of using pvc or glue to stick rocks together..

but i couldnt find a step by step dummy guide or what material to use which are save to the tank..

can someone advise?

You can try Epoxy, that is sold at iwarna. Going for about $12 a tube. Fast curing time and the best thing is that you don't have to use 2 agent to mix into one. Its already sectioned out for you, inner agent with outer agent. Just mix with one hand.

I use Selley's underwater epoxy in the past. Works the same as the D-D rockscape one just that its not purple in color. You could try using BSI-IC gel as well, I heard from other reefers they use it for rockscaping as well just that you have to be quite liberal with the amount you use.

Y u need those to glue the rocks together?

Unless u r refering to those small small piece wan la.

For big rocks just scape n stack them to your desire patterns will do.

I went thru' not less than half a dozen of re-scape in my 1st tank over a period of 3 years. I was able to do so mainly because I did not use any epoxy, stacking LRs a little differently each time. Though I understand that in your case, the look you're trying to achieve may not be possible just by stacking LR together. I currently use cable ties to secure my tonga branches instead. They're easier to cut away if need be.

P.S. There's another thread referring to the use of fiberglass rod on LR.

Yes, try and avoid epoxy all the rocks.. When choosing live rocks, try and visualize your rockscape and choose a mixture of rocks. Some base rock, some with crevices etc. Epoxy the rocks will give you headache next time when you want to remove a rock or rescape. Just stack it and make sure it won't fall will do.

Tell u bro... U stack already never fall doesn't mean wun fall.

Use your hand apply some pressure on it like pressing it or push it slightly in all direction.

If secure,it shouldn't be trembling... Then consider secure

share with you what i did last night:

always felt that my rockscape is too low and it clogs up dirt at the base.

so i did some DIY:

1x plastic light diffuser

4x PVC pipe cut to same length

and cabled tied them to make a table shape.

then i stacked the rocks on top and got some nice elevation.

seem sturdy enough.

most of the time you can't get back the same pattern ... so try not to stick them together ( btw it's heavy when lifting the rocks out from water )

what works for me is.. use HUGE rocks.. rocks that u feel have good shapes to achieve ur desired rockscape.. it might be very hard to find, or very expensive.. but its definitely worth it in the long run.. i myself took months just to search for my desired rocks..

Agree with u. Big rocks is the best. Stable n bigger surface.

one of the more uncommon type.. else u can just common cave / valley / mountain

u can hide your pvc pipes by sticking small rock to it..

do not neglect the ratio of water to rock..

it is above the sand.. a overhang rocks hold together by rods and cable tie
