Help: Bubble Magus Skimmer making a rattling sound

I got this skimmer brand new last june..

Yesterday the motor started making a rattling sound so I disassembled it. There wasn't any obstruction or anything unusual.

Is it safe to run? Is there anything that can stop the rattling?

I suspect the rubber ends might be loose, can they be replaced? I'm quite reluctant to buy a whole new impeller just for the rubber ends, if the impellers are sold at all.

help!

Try holding the impeller with 2 fingers on both rubber ends. Give the impeller a spin with your other hand. Does it spin smoothly , or can you see the impeller body moving off the axis shelf back & forth? If it's doing the latter, you'd probably need to replace the impeller.

BTW, what is your skimmer & pump model?

I'll try that when I get home today.. I think it's gone case alr, the pump has only a really weak flow and the rattling sound got louder.

BM NAC 3.5 I think, cone skimmer. The pump model is atman ph1000 if I recall correctly.

Where can I buy a replacement..? :ThanxSmiley:

Depending on model and pump, there might be washers at both ends of the shaft. Check to see if they are in place or have shifted position.

yup they are in place.

rubber bung - washer - impeller - washer - rubber bung.

Is it normal for the impeller head to be turnable? It can be turned for a few rounds.
