Power pump or Canister

hi, need some advise.

I plan to add in FR and chiller to my tank. But should i use a canister OR power head pump to pump the water in?

Also should the water go to FR first or go to chiller first?

Btw, anyone know what flowrate should i use for Resun-280 chiller?

I suggest using a power head as you are daisy-chaining 2 more devices. The canister may not have enough umpf to push pass 2 extra devices and still retain a good flow rate.

If I have to add FR and Chiller, I'll hook up the chiller to the output of the canister so that the chiller gets filtered water to reduce detritus collecting in the cooling chamber. I'll use a separate pump for FR so that I can control the flow rate to the optimal setting.

I used to piggyback my chiller to my canister where the height of the waterline is around 1.5m. Take note that the higher you go, the harder the pump need to work.

On your last question, I used an eheim 1000 on CL280 before.

Assumption: I'm assuming you don't use a sump. If you use sump, things will be a bit different.

With a sump, you can save 1 pump. Just use a powerful enough pump to daisy chain FR and Chiller. Sump-pump-chiller-FR-sump. Chiller first to avoid and media from FR going to chilling chamber.

If your pump is powerful enough, you can do Sump-pump-chiller-FR-Tank but this is not advised because maintaining chiller or media shuts down your return.

You can also tee from pump to both FR and chiller with ball valve on each so that you can control the flow rate to each independently and also makes them easy to maintain.
