SRC Member chrislwp Posted January 24, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted January 24, 2012 API is good for me I have doubt with the API NO3 test kit. I salt mix water right from tap, add water from tap, 4 ft tank with a 6" yellow tang and 2 maroon clown, feeding regularly. However my No3 is 0ppm. I test my friend water also 0ppm. Just too good to be truth.. Anyone experience similar expeience? Quote Tank 4x2x2.

Jameshong
I'm using ph meter but ocassionally use API ph test kit to double confirm the reading and both reading are quite close ! sherman
Salifert for KH, CA and MG. For PO4 and NO3 experience zero reading but when using other test set actually reading is very much higher then zero. Hence if you need very good reading for NO3 and PO4 go for better test kit like Elos and Red Sea Pro series(Can,t remember the actual name) Check and feedback again tonite Quote 6.5 * 2 * 2 + 3.75 * 1.5 *1.5,(Decomn on 14/9/08) 4*2*2 + 2.5*1.25*1.25 (Decomn on 1/8/09) 5*2*2 (Fully LED light system, 140 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm) 2.5*2*2(Fully LED Light System,96 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm) 5*2.5*2(LED only) Eheim return 1 * pump 1 HP Daikin compressor with cooling coil 2 Jebao OW40, 1 ecotech MP40, 1X6085 Tunze wm, 1 CURVE 7 Skimmer 1 DIY 80 led control by Bluefish mini 1 radion XR30W G2, 2 Radion XR15G3 Sump area lite by 5 ft T5 , 6 * SSC 3 watt red LED for refugium 1 Full spectrum E27 led light 1 CR control by bubble count Start No Water Change since 1st Dec 2016 Add new 2.5x2x 1.5 ft [/quote]

SRC Member chrislwp Posted March 8, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted March 8, 2012 Bro, take note you need to shake your solution no 2 before you drop in your test tube I did shaked bottle 2, after several tries for weeks, coloration still closes to the lightest yellow.. Recently bought the API PO4 test kit too, and it's 0 again. Feel like changing to Salifert, or any bro can help test my water.. Tian85
Salifert is not really that exp, consider that it is only 5 to 10 buck more then API but it give u an ease off your mind for the test. Get salifert will not be wrong, saw AM just restock their salifert test kit.
clee123
I would recommend the following testers if you want more accurate readings... 1) Alkalinity Checker 2) Calcium Checker 3) Nitrite Checker 4) Phosphorus Checker

I'm currently using API KH, pH, & CA kit. For PO4, I'm using Hanna Phosphorus Checker. Quote Knowing is not enough; we must apply. mjck
i am also using api test kit for no3. i cant get a reading of zero. tap water is 10 to 20. distilled 5 to 10. Normal to get that type of readings for tap water. Our tap water do contain some level of nitrate. For planted tank, plants photosynthesis increases after water change. mjck
None for DD test kit? Up for DD po4 test. Great resolution and ease of reading due to the color comparator system where tank water is used as baseline .
