stevenkoh08
kawa is a good source for CA so there you coraline algae will glow... do not over dose as it'll cause spike in CA nvr the less you also need min requirer light source.... T5 will do the trick already and you need to seed it with some coraline as well if you don't... Do maintain as low PO4 as possible to have a good growth

dnsfpl
1. seeding of coralline algae 2. no3 & po4 as low as possible, best undetectable 3. dose iwarna topup, 0.1% alternate days, eg for 3x2x2 feet tank, dose 300ml of iwarna topup it works for my 3 footer, will follow the same regime for my 4 footer

tench1
Something to add on; - for T5 lightings, i used 4 tubes for 2 by 1 by 1. (2 x A.Blue, 2 x Aqua Blue) 11hrs straight. This work for my nano in office.

dnsfpl
bro what do you mean by 0.1%? 90cm x 60cm x 60cm = 324 000ml x 70%(rocks, sand etc) = 226 800ml + 100 000ml(sump vol) = 326 800ml x 0.1%(my dosage) = 326.8ml of iwarna topup every other day
dnsfpl
more coraline algae = faster calcium deplete

SRC Member dryDiver Posted January 4, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted January 4, 2011 I do DIY style kalkwasser. I use a 1 gallon container , puncture a pin size hole at the bottom side of the container, put 3 grams of kalkwasser in bott, fill three quarters with water, shake vigorously, then let it drip into tank. U can use a toothpick to stick into the pin size to slow down flow. U would find the water abit slimy. I did it 3 times a week for 2 mths n I had a tank full of purple rocks ) hope that's helpful to u Cheers

SRC Member straydum Posted January 5, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted January 5, 2011 yeap i think its a tube anemone too, and a nice one! i'm going to try dnsfpl's recipe for coraline see if it helps to boost growth. imo as long as phosphates are low and calcium is maintained together with good lights, coraline should grow
