T5 Combinations

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I'll be keeping Mushrooms, Polyps and Torch & Octopus corels and some fish (Blue Tang, Flame Angel) in my tank. I'm planning to buy 4x T5 tubes for lighting and I wish that the Red, Blue and Green colours will stand out in my tank rather than a wash-out look by white light.

I'm planning to buy the following 3 Giesemann T5 tubes and need advice on what to buy for the 4th T5:

1. Pure Actinic (UV)

2. Actinic Plus (blue)

3. Fiji Purple (Korallen Zuht)(red)

4. ???

I think you need at least 1 to 2 tubes of Aquablue+ (white) light for your corals.

Else the lighting might be insufficient for them.

FYI, i am using Giesemann [2 x Aquablue+ with 2 x Actinic+]. Corals wise look ok.

I have noticed my corals during dawn, dusk simulation with only 2 x Actinic+ only, the corals does not expand as big.

If u r using ATI, the best combination is 2 x blueplus, 1 x purple plus and 1 x aquablue special. Not very sure about Giesemann =p

Blue colour brings out the colours in your corals, i would recommend

1. Blue

2. White

3. Purple (red)

4. Blue

for more growth n aesthetic purposes, u can go for:

1. Aquablue+ (growth n aesthetic)

2. Aquablue+ (growth n aesthetic)

3. True Actinic (aesthetic)

4. Aquapink (aesthetic)

im using true actinic n aquapink as supplement, n personally, it rocks! my 2 cents

Most people's feedback in the US forums feel that ATI Actinic is not very useful as it does not produce sufficient PAR, so usually they would go for 2x ATI Blue+. I would swap with the Fiji Purple to give it a try.

ATI Actinic is great for viewing pleasure, makes coral glow

imo purple/pink/red tubes color normally last less than 6 months

that is why i stop using them

i am using MH 250w with 2X ATI blue plus..planning to change one of the tube to Purple plus.
