Hi all,

I have noticed some activities in my tank that I could not understand .... and I do not have any digital camera at the moment ... hope that you all are able to advise me.

I have a 7 weeks tank, with LR & sand. Notice the following activities:

1. a kind of flat white worm, looks a bit like mee pok but it's white in color. The width is about 0.4cm thick. Is it harmful? Found it in my LR.

2. In my LR again, I can see something like a straight spider silk, extending itself up and down the LR. What was that?

3. Lastly, I often see some holes in my LR, spitting out some sand into the water, is this the doing of crab?

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

1)Its probably a flatworm so KILL IT

2)Thats probably some sort of worm or stuff that builds a tube using all kinds of shit. Dun need to bother.

3)Ya. Thats a doing of a crab :lol::lol::lol:

Thanks for all your help. I'll try to look for the flat worm again and this time round, there's no escape.

As for the crab, I have caught about 19 so far ...... using the chicken essence bottle method .... but can still see the sand splitting activities in my tank ... will continue the effort.

There is no need to kill the flat worm From what I know they're beneficial hitchhikers that feeds on algae. therefore I see no need to crucify it.

Treat all life equally. Imagine how it's family would react to its demise. Think of it's children. Have a heart save some lives. Nah I'm just bullshitting.

hmmm... I see. Why aren't they reef safe? do they eat croals etc? I figured they're too small to cause much harm. And are often eaten by fish and adds to the biodiversity of your aquarium. and besides They are too small to cause much harm, just nature. Unless you have an infestation.

I'll normally align the opening of the chicken essence bottle to the rock, with my bottle either stnding up straight or slanding depending on your terrain. I'll put in 4 bottles with prawn meat every night before lights off and remove all 4 bottles it in the morning, with or without crab. And I did this everynight. That's how I caught twenty so far. Two more was caught yesternight. :P

yah. my blood shrimps takes the prawn out instead. bloody hell.

U're right ... initially my blood shrimp did that too. So, what I have done now is to feed them the prawn meat first before placing the crab trap. I feed them with my hand and they will slowly come to you and grab the meat ..... it's fun.
