Bird Lovers

Any reefers keeping Parakeet also? Or have kept parakeet before... Trying to ID the breed of the parakeet that my relative have... I know there is unlimited mutation parakeet out there, but the one he have seems like a cross breed?

The feather is like Neophema splendida, Scarlet chest parakeet but the beak is orange/red unlike Neophema splendida which have black beak..

I've got 3 1week plus old LGF (Lady Gouldian Finch). The "Care-taker"(Society Finch as the LGF doesn't do their job) should be feeding them so far. Was told that I need to buy those special baby bird liquid food to feed them soon. If this really require or as long as the care-taker is feeding them, I shd leave them alone.

Hi Nitro,

you should let the "care-taker" finch do the job. Unless you are forced to handfeed, then you can go to Goodwill Trading (Block beside Petmart) to buy baby bird formula.

Handfeeding is pretty troublesome. Let me know if the baby finch is abandoned and require you to handfeed.

Congrats Nitro for successful breeding LGF, i have previously dabbled with them but always get in-fertile eggs or females kicking eggs from nest due to disturbance from family activities.

Yup, read that if care-taker finch dun feed, you need to do it fast. Be prepared to feed them every 3 hours. Good luck!

not so much of a bird lover myself but i do stop myself from trying to keep one after reading this book

for anyone of calls themselves a bird lover, i'd say that Of Parrots and People is a must read. it talks about the problems birds are in when placed in our hands. a sad yet undeniably strong book to cringe the hearts of anyone who has a relation with birds.
