Red Coris Wrasse Habitat

Recommended Posts

I just got a Red Coris Wrasse, its about 4 inches long, and im not sure about its suitable gravel bed type. Alot of websites said fine sand is compulsary but my tank is lined with coarse coral chips, so does it still burrow in? If so, will it really get hurt? Thanks

hi bro, if you have sand, it will be the best for the wrasse, when i have my 5 feet, it always burrowed it automatically when it is scare.

now without sand, it just lies flat underneath the rock,so sometimes you will think it's dead.. but it's sleeping.

have kept yellow wrasse without sand too, so it really depends on the tank / fish condition.

i would really suggest keeping it with sand if you can, corals chip is quite painful for it i think to burrow in.. (no idea just thinking)

put a little container of sand in the tank for it to sleep..

hide the container behind liverock if u find it unsightly.

they can live in barebottom tank but it's unatural for them.

they cannot live in coral chips because it will hurt and kill them eventually.
