MCE 600 deltec skimmer for 2 ft overkill?

Hi, is mce600 skimmer overkill for my 2 ft tank as I realize not much brown foam on the cup as the skimmer is on 24/7 for about a week. I occasionally will see foam through the cup but most of time there isn't much foam . But when lift up the cup I saw white foam. Will this affect the skimmer or water parameter?

IMHO, you can never overskim you tank. When your system is low nutrients your skimmer simply skim less. Most hobbyists will buy the biggest skimmer they can afford and some chose smaller skimmer due to space in their cabinet or sump.

your tank just doesn't have enough organics to skim out, so the skimmer just sits there until enough organics build up for it to foam and then it shuts down again same for my skimmer in my 2 feet. you should be able to afford to feed your fishes more often or maybe dosing food for your corals

good thing is you can probably use the same skimmer if you intent to upgrade your tank size in the future!
