can floodlight be used for tanks

went to DIY shop and saw those floodlight.. i tink its called metal halide also.. not too sure.. but its with those yellow colour tube... can it be use?? if i change the tube... hmm and how much does those blueish tube for marine cost?? hmm for your info.. tat floodlight cost only $30....

Possibly, if the ballast is suitable. Get the wrong ballast and your bulb will not be driven to the right colour temperature or maybe even blown.

I have used such 'industrial use' MH before and they cannot hold a candle to the proper aquarium MH pendants somehow... they were much dimmer even though they were the same wattage. I narrowed it down to the ballast.

First thing that floodlight came to my mind are those search and rescue light onboard ships. I hope that is not what you mentioned, if it is, prepare to have cooked seafood for dinner even with chiller. ;) (its burning hot, one cannot stay too near or under the light for long)

haah the one i saw is those people put for ponds.. landed property.. those type.. square one.. i dont see any ballast leh hha not sure.. quite small and compact thot can use for my 2ft..

the bulb is yellowish

if i change to the marine type how much it cost???
