Cowfish questions

I've read on some sites that cowfishes releases toxins which kills fishes when they are provoked. Its reported to even kill themselves too. Is it true?

If its true, how do I keep it with other fishes and so as not to make it do that?

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

I read that they will release toxins even when harassed. So keep them with non aggressive tank mates?

In the wild, the toxins are just used to make the "attacker" back off and both parties will swim away. But in an enclosed tank, the toxin can kill tank mates and even other cow fishes...

Just make sure that you have large tank if you wanna keep one, since it might release toxin when provoked or even after death. However, I kept one with some aggresive fishes without problems, just that it died after some months with unknown reason... :(

I kept mine for around a year before giving it away...Got it at juvenile stage.

A voracious eater and needs space to swim.

The fins look very nice when opened during swimming... :)

Current-wise...moderate should do the trick. Just make sure it doesn't go knocking on your tank walls and it shall be okay... :)

Quite amusing during feeding time... esp when the food drifts to a corner coz the horns will hinder it from going nearer... it is also a slow feeder compared to other fish so make sure it gets it's share of food :)

slow feeder? ... mine chases guppies around...

If you observe carefully, when it is stressed, more of the blue undertones and dark patches appear then you have to start monitoring it... :)

On no.. is that so?!... I tot mine's light yellow when I got it. Then it started getting darker patches.. then my lionfish died.. :(
