Macro algae is used to reduce the nitrates in the tank. Red bamboo algae is also a food source for tangs and other herbivorous fishes in your tank.

It's a aglae that will grow by itself in our tank or it's something that we need to buy from our LFS to begin with?

Red Bamboo Algae - Tangs love it. Good Seashorse perch. Can come as hitchhikers or bought from shops. However this species can go asexual.

I see. Thanks for the info. I have put a bunch of bamboo in my tank.

My tangs jus ain't eating it at all. What's wrong with that? Do I carry on to just leave it?

this species will go *sexual. not asexual. sexual reproduction means the release of spores/gametes etc that will cloud the water.

asexual is reproduction by spreading/budding/fragging etc.

also do note that in order to significantly reduce nitrates and phosphates, you will need alot... relative to water volume.

Red bamboo will be good to add if you have tangs in the tank. They will love it

Red bamboo is good for tangs if they are new and don't eat pellet for a start.

I have red bamboo in my sump. It turns green when it is about to die. It looks nice and I use it to conceal my chaeto from sump display lol. I dont think feeding it to tangs is sustainable though. They don't grow very thick and spread outwards, meaning that they need more space than other macroalgaes
