Is my tank too small for yellow tang?

Hi reefers,

my friend recently bought 2 yellow tangs and want to give 1 to me. but my tank is 2ft and 15 gal. can i keep it?

hMm..some ppl keep 3 different tangs in a 2footer. But the advise is tat tangs need more room to roam.. but tangs are so pretty..who can resist frm keeping one? juz take good care of it..

15 gallon is too small for a YT if you want it to thrive. Tangs eats alot, grow relatively quick and have lotsa poo... It creates a lot of bio load and I think it is very hard for a 15 gallonsystem to keep up. Unless it is a FOWLR then can do frequent water change.

Not to mention the fact that they require a lot of space to swim and places to hide.

I myself have 2YT and 1PBT in my 3ft (around 80 gallon with sump) and I still think they need more space.

if u really wanna keep YT in your tank.. get a super good skimmer..

hav to see how large is the YT that ur fren is giving to u n wat other fishes u got n u may get.... it all goes down to the overstocking rule

quite a small tank for 5 tangs...

I guess its not about water quality some are concern.......

its just that they may find it a little tight to swim ard in a 2 ft tank....they do grow....eventually.

Bro...pamper your tangs....once you are ready and know a lot about the hobby....go 6FT.....
