NP Bio Pellet

Hi Guys I have a question to ask about NP Bio Pellet. Recently I stopped running my FR containing the pellet for about 3-5 days. I left the FR unattended with water and the pellets still inside the FR. When I opened the FR to wash it I discovered a foul smell coming from it. I guess ammonia has build up inside the FR. I realised my negligence.

But now my question is can I wash the pellet, sun-dry them for about 3 days and reuse them again?

Thanks in advance for all the advise.

i believe you can. I have the same encounter with yours and i wash and dry it up before re-using it back on my small tank. However, IMO you will need to wait for the pallets to be establish again once you took it out of your tank . I observe my skimmer stop skimming again during the first few day when i put my pallet in.

The smell you are experiencing is Hydrogen Sulfide as you have stopped running water through the FR.

And yes, as mentioned by HM, you can give the media a good wash and reuse it again.

I have been running my biopellets for about 3-4 days now and this morning I have taken out my biopellets from the FR but I plan to put them back in. I don't understand by what you meant by wait for the pellets to be established again. Could you explain further? And what is the purpose of drying it?

Also, I observe my skimmer is producing lots of bubbles. In fact there are so much of these bubbles that the collection cup can't contain them. I have to use a plastic bag to collect all these bubbles. There is a little of foul-smelling skimate though. Is this what you are experiencing when you say that your skimmer stop skimming?

Both my equipment are HOB types over my main tank. I temporary stop my FR because there are so much bubbles and foam produced on the water surface. In fact half the footprint of the tank is covered with a layer of bubbles/foam on the surface.
