250W MH Light

I about to order a 250W MH light. But only available DE

1 x 250W, 2 x 250W or 2 x 250W with 1 x 36W PL

I notice Reefer here use only SE.

is DE ok

DE needs a UV glass...not sure I'm right

will check with shop for manufacturer specifications on the glass and bulbs.

What other 250W MH light available in market, please advise. (I do not want DIY, cos of the look)

I've used DE BLV 250w for almost a year...so far pretty pleased with it... but u gotta have a uv glass definitely. Very important coz if not, your livestock will not be able to take the UV radiation! So far, the other person I know using 250 DE is Hon...just got my new bulbs from him...

If you dont want to DIY, the only real choice is a DE set.

Dont worry about the UV glass thing, ALL reputable brand-name DE sets will have a UV glass included as a part of the MH set.

For your info, brand-name DE MH sets usually will outperform a DIY SE set in terms of getting more light into your tank. This is because they will have a more efficient reflector compared to a DIY set.

Some reputable brand-name sets include those from Giesemann, Aqualine Busche, Aquaconnect, Dupla & Arcadia.

BTW, I use a 250W DE set made by AB.
