Not Bad... salts dissolve well in 1/2 hour time... but still spot some residue leftover on the base.... Alk ~4.5 dkh, Ca ~410ppm and Mg ~1300.. As for Alk is at the low side... probably need some buffer additive on this one... Ca and Mg is at the premium side.

Hi,

You said the lids tight, did you cut the taps before you opened it? I've used the salt in the past but now I've changed to D D salt were the parameters are all around good.

Hai, Gary... I didn't cut.. Just used screw driver to open at the thicker taps area.. ya.. In fact we can tear the taps from the side... I just want to keep the pail looks new.. my bad habit.. :P

D-D H2Ocean from RD? another good salt brands

I remember D-D or Tropic Marine didn't come with lids taps design...

Thanks for sharing... :ThanxSmiley:

  • 2 weeks later...

My personal observation with this salt is the improvement in the dissolvability in the water, as there isn't any residue left as compare to the old REDSEA Salt bag. The old packaging used to leave behind strain of residue after the salt melt in the water.

If i compare this to the DD salt, i need to use 3 full cup of REDSEA Salt to achieve 1.022 for mixing a pail of RO/DI water, whereas i only need 2.5 cup full to achieve the same salinity with DD salt. Which is still consider ok , as there is some other brand of salt mix which i tried required more than 3 cup ..
