I have been trying to put a newly bought Maxima 2" clam on top of a fix place on my live rock to let it have more exposure of my light but it kept dropping to another place or to the sandbed!

Is your maxima already attached to a small piece of rock? if yes, you have to anchor the rock to something or a hole, If not, just use 2 piece of smaller rocks to hold the clam in place n and the clam will attach to it in a couple of days after whick you can remove the smaller rocks.
