I decided to do up my refugium as most of my macro algae was eaten up by my urchin or died due to poor conditions...

so today i went searching for macro algae...

BUT i did not search in shops...

i went to the BEACH!!!

took a sailing boat out to sea to search for some macro algae...

found lots of sea lettuce(ulva) and many others which i cannot identify... also took some of the long mangrove fruits/plants to try as i heard it is good for nitrate export... (correct me if i am wrong)

If anyone saw a weirdo carrying a huge clear plastic bag with many ziplock bags and LFS plastic bags in it filled with green stuff... that would be me...

i took the train home carring about 10 -15 kg of the bags...

mostly water tho...

well... now i will show some pics of my operation macro algae!

please comment and help ID...

here is the 5 bags i brought back...

took them out of big bag and drained most of the water in ziplocks...

opened the bags in order starting from the right...

I used this basket thingy to keep my ulva in my refugium.

Increased my lighting from 1x36w pl to 2x18w FL + 1x36w pl...

might add another PL light set...

i then put the algae into an icebox filled with my tank water to sort them out...

the ulva was to go straight into my tank once i did a freshwater dip...

the rest of the algae i sorted them into 2 catagories...

1. either chaeto or hair algae

2. nice looking/weird looking

put those in cat1 back into zip locks and in my topup tank.

put those in cat2 in a white netting in my fuge next to the red basket...
