Where do all the debris/waste material goes

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I know the topic title sounds a bit wierd but this is what's happening:

I decided to stop using my hang-on filter for my tank after 6 mths.

Reason being i want to free up more space for a possible new lighting set.

But i realised that i will have no other form of mechanical filtration when it's removed( i have DSB for biological filtration).

So i pressumed the debris in my tank will not be removed @ all...

WIll this cause any sort of water parameter problem?

debris usually settle down on your sandbed after your tank is cycled. other than that, there's not much worry..

DSB only help in certain area, remove of NO3 in time to comes. Other filteration need to comes in too..

also wat's your tank setup like.. more info. can help.

So u will advice to have additional mechanical filteration?

Currently my tank has a DSB and much LR with a weipro skimmer running. Mine is a corner tank and hold 170 litres of water

(equivalent to 3 ft tank??)

I don't have any form of mechanical filtration

Fuel,

So what kind of filtration u using? DSB or ...?

Thanks for sharing... :D
